Staff Data Architect

Job Description

Life360 is seeking a Staff Data Architect to play a crucial role in shaping its data infrastructure. The ideal candidate will develop frameworks and establish architectural patterns to enhance the data engineering team's efficiency. This role involves contributing to the building and maintenance of data processing and storage pipelines, ensuring robust security, scalability, and innovation through AI integration.Life360 is a remote-first company, and this position can be performed remotely within the US.What this role involves:

• Designing and implementing enterprise-wide data architecture strategies.
• Developing reusable frameworks and tools.
• Architecting scalable data warehouse solutions.
• Managing financial data from ingestion through ETL to storage and batch processing.
• Leading the integration of AI and machine learning capabilities.
• Designing and implementing comprehensive role-based access control systems.
• Establishing data governance policies.
• Mentoring junior engineers.

What company is looking for:

• Minimum 8+ years of experience with high volume data infrastructure, including 3+ years in data architecture roles.
• Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-wide data architectures and frameworks.
• Strong experience with Databricks, AWS, dbt, ETL, and Job orchestration tooling.
• Extensive experience programming in Python or Java.
• Deep expertise in data modeling, optimizing SQL queries, and system performance tuning.
• Proficiency with SQL, AWS, Databases, Apache Spark, Spark Streaming, EMR, and Kinesis/Kafka.
• Experience implementing AI/ML solutions within data infrastructure.
• Experience with data security, role-based access control, and PII management.
• Experience working with freemium models, tiered subscriptions, and Subscription Billing Systems.
• Experience in modern development lifecycle including Agile methodology, CI/CD, and automated deployments using Terraform, GitHub Actions etc.
• Strong knowledge of the latest open source and data frameworks, modern data platform tech stacks and tools.
• Excellent communication skills.
• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
