Data Engineer II (NYC)

Job Description

Garner Health is seeking a Data Engineer II to support its technical teams by ensuring secure data access. This is a hybrid role based in Garner’s New York City office, requiring 3 days of onsite work most weeks. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and stakeholder management skills, with a desire to contribute to building an enterprise-grade data platform.

Garner Health has experienced rapid growth, more than doubling its revenue annually over the past 5 years. The company is expanding its team by over 50% each year and is looking for exceptional talent to shape its unique, award-winning culture.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with senior engineers to build and support the data platform and pipelines.
• Collaborate across disciplines to produce high-quality datasets and reports.
• Partner with engineers to define and implement coding standards and shared tooling.
• Partner with Data Science, Researchers, and Product Managers to convert ideas into production systems.
• Protect user privacy and security through best practices.

Ideal candidate has:

• 2+ years of software engineering experience
• 2+ years of experience building data platforms and pipelines
• 2+ years of experience with SQL
• 1+ years of experience of observability tooling
• 1+ years of experience with container technologies
• Experience with data warehouse technologies
• Experience building distributed systems and data processing environments
• Experience with orchestration technologies
• Conceptual thinking ability to understand and decompose abstract problems
• An aptitude to learn new technologies and tools quickly
