Engineering Director, Data Ecosystem

Job Description

Garner Health is seeking an Engineering Director, Data Ecosystem to lead the development and operation of its first-generation data platform. This role is crucial for powering the company’s long-term data strategy and requires a hybrid work arrangement with three days per week in the New York City office.He/she will report to the Chief Technology Officer and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies and achieve company objectives. The Engineering Director will lead the development of a world-class data platform that supports data science, analytics, product, and engineering needs across the company. He/she will influence technical designs and roadmaps of shared engineering systems and ensure data systems interoperate within a unified ecosystem.What this role involves:

• Owning and driving the execution of quarterly deliverables and long-term strategy.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align strategies and achieve company objectives.
• Leading the development of a world-class data platform.
• Championing data privacy and security.
• Mentoring and growing engineering leaders.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering.
• 4+ years of experience managing software or data engineering teams.
• 2+ years of experience managing managers of engineering teams.
• Experience building big data systems and working with data governance practices.
• Expertise with big data technologies (e.g., Argo, Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, Spark, Metaflow, DBT, Soda).
• Strong technical understanding of distributed systems architecture.
