Staff Backend Engineer (Python)

Job Description

Garner Health is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to join their team in New York City. The ideal candidate will be a key architect of the company's technical direction and processes, serving as a high-level problem-solver and mentor to other engineers. This role requires working in the office three days a week.Garner Health has experienced rapid growth and is looking for engineers to help build the systems needed to keep up with customer demand. The Staff Backend Engineer will collaborate across disciplines to provide timely and accurate information, protect user privacy and security, and support production operations.Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain data pipelines that power the business
• Collaborate across disciplines to provide timely and accurate information
• Protect users’ privacy and security through best practices
• Support production operations and come up with solutions to lighten the operational load
• Design and optimize for the long term while moving fast and iteratively deliver for the short term
• Ideate on new features and work with data to find new insights
• Research and work with the latest tools and technologies
• Collaborate using our tech stack, including Python, AWS, NATS, Terraform, Postgres, ElasticSearch, Snowflake, and Kubernetes.

Requirements:

• Strong Computer Science fundamentals
• 6+ years of industry experience building and maintaining scalable high-quality software
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building data pipelines
• Expertise in Python
• Expertise in SQL
• Expertise with Kubernetes
• Expertise with workflow engines (Argo preferred, but not required)
• Experience working with back-end APIs, and distributed event-driven architectures
• Experience with one or more database systems, especially PostgreSQL
• Experience working in a team using Agile methodologies
• Familiarity with data warehousing
