Job Description

FREENOW is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join their Supply Driver Quality Team in Athens. The successful candidate will be part of a cross-functional team dedicated to enhancing the Quality of Service (QoS) for drivers, ensuring they have the tools and insights needed to deliver exceptional service. This role involves designing and building innovative products that enhance urban mobility, creating solutions that are delightful, sustainable, and tailored to the needs of users.

The Backend Engineer will be involved in every stage of product development, from ideation to implementation, ensuring a seamless and impactful experience. They will also challenge the status quo by exploring new technologies and approaches to improve products and maintain a state-of-the-art codebase.

Role Involves:

  • Owning the feature and the code, taking responsibility for the entire development lifecycle.
  • Designing and developing systems based on product requirements or refactorings.
  • Maintaining and improving existing systems by identifying and resolving bottlenecks and performance issues.
  • Collaborating with team members in an Agile environment, contributing to agile ceremonies.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest technology trends and bringing best practices to daily work.

Requirements:

  • Passionate about Kotlin or Java.
  • Experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks, automated tests, and CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, Datadog, Kibana, etc.).
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture.
  • Understanding of scalable web application principles and practices, such as RESTful APIs, transactions, and resiliency.
  • Familiarity with messaging using Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • High level of creativity and excellent communication skills in English.
