Threat Researcher

Job Description

Fortra is seeking a Threat Researcher to join its Managed Threat Intelligence group. The successful candidate will focus on generating actionable threat intelligence findings for clients, with a core focus on email-based threats, account takeover attacks, and digital impersonation fraud. This role involves actively researching cyber threats, producing intelligence products, and partnering with marketing teams to translate findings into thought leadership content.Role involves:

• Researching cyber threats using technical analysis and data analysis.
• Producing threat reports, intelligence briefings, and whitepapers.
• Translating intelligence findings into blog posts and other materials.
• Performing research on BEC and phishing attacks.
• Analyzing threats to identify adversary tactics and techniques.
• Conducting data analysis to identify trends in cybercrime activity.
• Monitoring activity groups and tracking their behavior.
• Engaging with customers and internal stakeholders to communicate research findings.

Requirements:

• 2 to 5 years in security operations, or 1-3 years in intelligence analysis or investigative journalism.
• Strong understanding of social engineering techniques and phishing threats.
• Exceptional research skills using OSINT and private threat data.
• Outstanding data analysis skills and experience with data analysis tools.
• Strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to write reports communicating complex research findings.
• Ability to present analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Intermediate scripting knowledge and an aptitude for automating tasks.
• Understanding of web-based languages including HTML, PHP, and JavaScript.
