Job Description
Affirm is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Cloud Compute team. This role is fully remote and based in Spain. The engineer will be pivotal in ensuring the robust and scalable foundation of Affirm's platform by managing all of Affirm's Kubernetes clusters. The ideal candidate will be passionate about automation and implementing best-in-class practices.
What this role involves:
- Setting technical strategy for the team.
- Collaborating across teams in the product development lifecycle.
- Acting as a force-multiplier for the team through technical solutions and operational processes.
- Taking ownership of the team’s operations and availability.
- Fostering a culture of quality and ownership.
- Helping develop talent on the team.
- Participating in an on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Extensive track record of developing and deploying highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, Kubernetes.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills on cloud and distributed systems.
- Extensive experience automating deployments using Kubernetes.
- Experience delivering major features, system components or deprecating existing functionality in a system.
- Ability to write high quality code.
- Comfortable moving from low level language idioms all the way to the architecture of large systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
