Principal Software Engineer, Backend

Alchemy is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Backend to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing, building, and maintaining core backend software components. This role involves working with a sophisticated and high-throughput distributed system in the blockchain world, focusing on architecting and building new systems, as well as improving existing ones for a platform that supports millions of users globally. Alchemy is a leading web3 developer platform, empowering builders with tools to create exceptional onchain products.Responsibilities:

• Define the vision for the backend infrastructure.
• Design, build, and maintain highly scalable and reliable infrastructure, APIs, and services.
• Contribute and lead system design discussions, stand-up meetings, and code reviews.
• Develop and own best practices for backend infrastructure.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Collaborate with other engineers, technical leaders, product managers, and designers.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend software components.
• Ability to solve complex design, scaling, latency, or performance problems.
• Production experience with Java, Golang, or C++.
• Experience in Cloud Native environments, particularly in AWS.
• Self-starter attitude and the ability to execute new ideas with autonomy.
