Job Description
Elastic is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their Platform Billing team. This team is responsible for providing a simple, transparent, and flexible SaaS billing experience based on cloud resource consumption. The Elastic Cloud service operates globally across major cloud providers, hosting critical workloads for numerous customers.
The Software Engineer II will collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to implement features and execute the roadmap for the billing area of the cloud. They will work on the codebase that brings in monthly subscription revenue, focusing on UX, APIs, and services on both the client and server sides.
What this role involves:
- Implementing features and executing on the roadmap for the Billing area of the Cloud.
- Working on a codebase that consists of UX, APIs, and services both on the client and server side.
- Collaborating with other Elastic engineering teams to develop scalable, automated solutions that drive our SaaS business.
- Reviewing work done by your peers, and provide constructive feedback.
- Crafting a stable, scalable, and reliable ingestion pipeline built using Elastic products to harvest usage data from multiple products.
- Using Elasticsearch and Kibana to aggregate data for billing and usage reporting purposes.
- Participating in the operation of an always-on service, maintaining a high level of observability.
- Participating in the team's on-call rotation.
Requirements:
- Experience building full-stack software using TypeScript and JavaScript, ideally in React.
- Proven experience (3+ years) with a track record of delivering high-quality code, preferably in Python.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and communication between services.
- Care deeply about the design and quality of the features you ship.
- Experience using Elasticsearch and/or Postgres in your application as a data store and analytics engine.
- Experience or interest in working on SaaS billing or metering systems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed team.
