Job Description

Box is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Device Security team in Warsaw, Poland. Box is the world’s leader in Intelligent Content Management, trusted by more than 115K organizations around the world. The Device Security team is responsible for ensuring only trusted devices can access Box’s Intelligent Content Management platform. The ideal candidate will be a technically strong engineer who thrives on platform-level thinking and has experience working with large-scale systems.

In this role, the Staff Software Engineer will drive key initiatives in the secure access space, partnering closely with product, security, and infrastructure teams. They will have significant influence in shaping Box's systems for the future, bringing discipline, depth, and a thoughtful approach to engineering in a mission-critical environment.

What this role involves:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining mission-critical enterprise software.
  • Leading the development of software components in the authentication and secure access domain.
  • Building and owning key services end-to-end.
  • Ensuring high system availability and performance.
  • Driving architectural discussions and helping guide the evolution of Box’s security infrastructure.
  • Mentoring and coaching other engineers on the team.
  • Collaborating closely with other teams to deliver robust secure device management and access control capabilities.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in backend development, including leading significant technical initiatives.
  • Experience working on mission-critical systems, ideally in areas like identity, authentication, OAuth, or access control.
  • Proficiency in Java, TypeScript, PHP or similar languages, and experience with Spring Boot, or Node.js.
  • Experience operating large-scale distributed systems with high uptime and security expectations.
  • Comfort mentoring engineers and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
