Job Description

xAI is seeking a Datacenter Facilities Operations Technician to maintain facility systems for supercomputing datacenters. The technician will be responsible for the maintenance, operations, and repair of MEP systems. This role involves ensuring site safety, providing operational expertise, performing inspections, managing spare parts, coordinating system shutdowns, and supporting commissioning efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring MEP Infrastructure site safety and environmental compliance.
  • Providing operational expertise for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
  • Routinely inspecting all areas to ensure performance measures are being maintained.
  • Writing and executing MOPs, SOPs, EOPs.
  • Performing daily inspections of critical systems.
  • Identifying and maintaining spare parts inventory.
  • Coordinating and supervising scheduled system shutdowns.
  • Developing and implementing energy monitoring metrics.
  • Supporting commissioning efforts.

Requirements include:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on operations or facilities work experience (data center experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles and systems.
  • Experience with critical systems documentation and Building/Electrical Power Monitoring Systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLC-based control systems and/or Building Management Systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to utilize hand tools and power tools.
  • Availability to work different shifts providing 24x7 coverage.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable working at elevated heights (up to 100 feet) with appropriate safety gear.
  • Comfortable working in extreme outdoor environments.
  • Willing to travel as needed (up to 10%).
