Senior System Engineer

Job Description

Backbase is seeking a Senior System Engineer to contribute to reusable artifacts and best practices within the organization. The ideal candidate will mentor colleagues and participate in R&D and CS interactions.

This role involves exposure to various environments and technologies across different R&D teams. The Senior System Engineer will take ownership of projects, enabling teams to set up environments from test to release. They will analyze situations, identify needs, and provide documented implementation guidelines, offering advice on security standards and performance optimization. The engineer will design, develop, and oversee the implementation of solutions that improve the stability, scalability, availability, and latency of Backbase's product.

The role requires in-depth knowledge of Backbase's current SDLC, best practices, trends, and related technologies, along with an interest in new tools. Close collaboration with R&D Engineers will provide valuable input for product improvement.

Role involves:

• Developing custom solutions for systems monitoring, deployments, and continuous integration.
• Designing and building mission-critical services.
• Providing documented guidelines for implementation.
• Giving advice on security standards and optimising performance.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Professional level English, written and spoken.
• Solid software development background with Java, Spring and Maven.
• Expertise with Linux / Unix systems.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Maven, Ansible preferred).
• Experience with continuous integration servers (Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, GoCD).
• Solid knowledge of cloud-native deployments on Kubernetes.
