Senior Software Engineer (Search Backend)

StockX is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Search & Recommendation ML team in Bangalore, India. This role focuses on maintaining and improving the search backend system, collaborating with ML engineers to implement machine learning innovations, and ensuring optimal search performance.StockX is a Detroit-based technology leader focused on the online market for sneakers, apparel, accessories, electronics, collectibles, trading cards, and more. StockX's powerful platform connects buyers and sellers of high-demand consumer goods from around the world using dynamic pricing mechanics.What this role involves:

• Designing and maintaining the infrastructure behind the core search stack.
• Building scalable, fault-tolerant indexing pipelines for real-time and batch data ingestion.
• Partnering with ML engineers and relevance teams to support offline/online ranking experimentation.
• Optimizing search latency, throughput, and uptime using observability tooling and performance profiling.
• Collaborating with product and data teams to understand query patterns and evolve system design accordingly.
• Driving migration to more modern indexing and vector search frameworks.
• Implementing safeguards and autoscaling policies to ensure SLAs under traffic spikes and failovers.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience building scalable backend systems, ideally in search, recommendation, or large-scale data retrieval.
• Strong experience with search engines.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems (e.g., Kafka, Kubernetes, microservices architecture).
• Proficiency in Go and Python.
• Comfort with performance tuning and profiling low-latency systems.
• Experience deploying and operating production systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
