Sotheby's is seeking a Shipping Manager to provide expertise for all shipments. This role is a crucial link in ensuring the delivery of day-to-day activities and meeting long-term strategic objectives. The Shipping Manager will maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies and drive change to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the client experience.
Responsibilities:
Manage, motivate, and lead the Inbound & Post-Sale shipping teams in London.
Provide mentorship and professional development for junior team members.
Ensure consistency of communication and service delivery to clients.
Liaise with the Head of Shipping to provide feedback on shipper’s performance.
Communicate with shipping vendors and internal departments to resolve shipping issues.
Ensure resources are allocated appropriately to support shipping activity.
Organize training to maintain team competence.
Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with international import and export laws.
Manage the accuracy of import and export documentation.
Identify and execute opportunities to improve Sotheby’s shipping service.
Support the management of Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) and Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) requirements.
Coordinate and execute Pre-Sale and Post-sale shipping requests.
Validate proof of exports for tax refunds.
Support the Head of Shipping with shipper account management and reconciliation.
Participate in and provide documentation for Sotheby’s audits.
Ideal Experience & Competencies:
Minimum of 5 years of appropriate experience.
Excellent Client Service Skills.

A strong working knowledge of international import/export procedures and licensing requirements.
Strong management and leadership with the ability to motivate teams and work with senior levels of management.
