Perplexity is seeking a Model Behavior Architect to contribute to the development of systems that provide reliable answers to user queries. The company has experienced significant growth since launching its conversational answer engine and serves a wide range of users, including enterprise clients like Nvidia and Zoom. The role involves shaping model behavior through prompt engineering and collaboration with various teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design, refine, and implement prompt engineering strategies.
• Identify edge cases and behavioral inconsistencies in model outputs.
• Develop automated pipelines for evaluating prompt effectiveness.
• Collaborate with researchers, PMs, and engineers.
• Collect and synthesize feedback to inform prompt design.
• Collaborate on prompt libraries and reusable frameworks.
• Stay current with the latest prompt engineering techniques.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated passion for AI and prompt engineering projects.
• Background in philosophy, psychology, linguistics, data science, or related fields.
• Familiar with Python and running simple scripts.
• High-level understanding of LLMs, training, RL.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Creative problem-solving abilities.

Perplexity offers:

• Cash compensation range: $220,000 - $280,000.
