Site Database Reliability Engineer II

Job Description

• Database design, model, implement and size large scale systems using Snowflake, PostgreSQL and MongoDB
• Provisioning, ensuring 24x7 availability, reliability, performance, security, maintenance, upgrades, and cost optimization
• Capacity planning of large-scale database clusters
• Automating DB provisioning, deployments, routine administration, maintenance, and upgrades
• Addressing business-critical incidents (P0/P1) within SLA, identifying RCA, and implementing permanent solutions
• Syncing data between multiple data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL to ES and Snowflake to ES)
• Designing, documenting, and benchmarking Snowflake or MongoDB DB Maintenance, Backup, Health check, alerting and Monitoring
• Creating processes, best practices, and enforcing them
• Identifying and tuning long-running queries to improve DB performance and reduce costs

• 4+ years of experience
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changing business needs
• Hands-on experience with SQL query writing and Python or another scripting language in any database environment
• Demonstrated experience in any cloud environment like AWS, Azure, and GCP
• In-depth knowledge of any two of MongoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL / Snowflake / MySQL is a plus
• Experience setting up high availability, replication, and incremental backups for various datastores
• Experience setting up database security best practices like encryption, auditing, and Role-Based Access Control
• Knowledge of DB design principles, partitioning/shading, and query optimization
• Expertise in troubleshooting database performance issues in production
• Demonstrated experience with any cloud-managed databases and self-hosted databases, managing medium to large-sized production
• Experience in building proof of concepts, trying out new solutions, and improving existing systems with best practices to solve business problems and support scaling
• Knowledge/experience with Terraform, Jenkins, Ansible is a plus
• Knowledge of database monitoring stack such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Expertise on Docker and Kubernetes is mandatory
• Proactive with the intellect to explore and come up with solutions to complex technical issues
