Job Description

AlphaSense is seeking a Head of Engineering, Search & AI to lead its AI-powered search efforts. This role involves leading and scaling the engineering organization focused on AI-powered search and infrastructure. The Head of Engineering will drive the integration of Generative AI technologies, partner with Product, Data Science, and Design to define intelligent search experiences, and hire and develop engineering talent.Responsibilities:

• Lead and scale the engineering organization focused on AI-powered search and infrastructure.
• Drive the successful integration and application of Generative AI technologies.
• Partner closely with Product, Data Science, and Design to define and deliver the next generation of intelligent search experiences.
• Hire, develop, and retain exceptional engineering talent.
• Assess and guide architectural and technical decisions, ensuring sound design and operational excellence at scale.
• Serve as a cultural leader, fostering engineering rigor, curiosity, and continuous innovation.
• Establish a high bar for communication, collaboration, and cross-functional alignment.
• Help steer the organization through high-growth stages, ensuring scalability, performance, and agility.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in a Sr. Director or VP-level role leading large-scale teams.
• Proven success in attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent.
• Strong track record of applying GenAI or NLP/ML technologies into real-world products and engineering workflows.
• Experience delivering AI-powered search or discovery platforms at scale.
• Has worked at a large SaaS company during a period of high growth.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (required); an advanced degree is a plus.
• Strong technical acumen; comfortable evaluating system design, architecture, and scalability.
• Excellent communication and executive presence; can influence up, down, and across the organization.
• Based in New York, NY or willing to relocate.
