Lead Analytics Engineer

Job Description

Capital on Tap is seeking a Lead Analytics Engineer to join their Data Platform team in London. The company's mission is to help small business owners by providing an all-in-one business credit card and spend management platform. This is a hybrid role requiring 1-2 days per week in the Shoreditch office.

The Lead Analytics Engineer will lead a team of 3 Analytics Engineers, focusing on building, maintaining, and optimizing the modern data platform. The role involves ensuring seamless access to high-quality, tested, observable, and well-documented data across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires a balance of technical expertise, people management, and project management skills.

Role involves:

• Leading and mentoring a team of 3 Analytics Engineers.
• Owning the analytics engineering roadmap and delivering projects aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborating with stakeholders across various departments to gather requirements and deliver data solutions.
• Managing and evolving the modern data stack, including Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, and Monte Carlo.
• Designing and maintaining scalable dbt models and self-serve data tools.
• Championing data quality and governance.
• Implementing internal process improvements.

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading a team of data or analytics engineers, including line management and mentoring.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• A strategic mindset with experience defining and delivering against a team roadmap.
• Expert SQL skills and a solid understanding of data modeling approaches.
• Hands-on experience with dbt.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and ELT tools (e.g., Fivetran).
• Experience with data observability tools (e.g., Monte Carlo).
• Experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker, Mode, Tableau).
• A strong focus on data quality, testing, observability, and performance.
• A track record of delivering clean, documented, and production-grade data assets.
