Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Skylo is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their network implementation team. This role, reporting to the Director of Network Implementation, will focus on developing and managing automation frameworks for network infrastructure and cloud components. The ideal candidate will design and implement CI/CD pipelines, automate deployments, and optimize cloud-native telecom network environments.

Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network service provider based in Mountain View, CA, offering a service that allows smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites. Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents.

Role Involves:

• Designing, implementing, and managing end-to-end CI/CD frameworks.
• Implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and scalable automation frameworks.
• Defining and managing the release lifecycle for network elements.
• Automating complex multi-vendor software and firmware releases.
• Continuously improving DevOps workflows.
• Building and maintaining automated environments for integration, staging, pre-production, and testing.
• Developing modular release workflows.
• Ensuring DevOps automation and cloud infrastructure adhere to security best practices.
• Enabling proactive fault detection and predictive maintenance.
• Leading infrastructure modernization initiatives.
• Providing technical mentorship and guidance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• 5 - 8 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud infrastructure, or telecom automation.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in deploying RAN, EPC, and various network components.
• Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, ArgoCD, and GitLAB.
• Proficiency in Python, Bash, Ansible, or Go for automation scripting.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Container orchestration.
• Experience deploying network components in hybrid, cloud-native, and edge computing environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and optimization skills.
• Proficiency in AWS, GCP, and related services.
• Understanding of 3GPP standards and 4G/5G network integrations (Nice to have).
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.
