Job Description
Human Rights Watch is seeking a Youth Advocacy Assistant for their Student Task Force (STF) program. This fixed-term, part-time role is based in the Los Angeles office and offers an opportunity to support youth advocacy initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with student leaders and faculty advisors, assisting in the implementation of human rights action plans and providing administrative support to the STF team. They will be encouraged to work from the office 2-3 days per week but can do some hours remotely throughout the week.

Role involves:
  • Supporting advocacy activities for human rights action plans.
  • Liaising with student leaders and faculty advisors.
  • Assisting with strategies and tools to equip student activists.
  • Preparing and distributing communications.
  • Providing administrative support.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • One year of relevant work experience (preferred).
  • Experience working with middle school, high school, and/or university students.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, internet applications).
  • Commitment to HRW’s mission and human rights values.
