Job Description

The New York Times is seeking a Senior Producer to join their Reporter Video team. This role involves creating groundbreaking, short-form digital journalism that brings the depth and breadth of the news report onto the site and other platforms through video. The Senior Producer will work autonomously to identify critical stories outside the U.S. and make sound editorial decisions on world news.

Responsibilities include:

  • Driving innovative Reporter Video delivering on a range of formats
  • Building and strengthening relations with colleagues on the International desk
  • Leading story development and story edits
  • Reviewing, assigning, and providing feedback on productions
  • Supporting and guiding script writing and visual approaches for effective short form video
  • Overseeing production across multiple projects
  • Guiding interviews and shoots as needed, both in studio and field
  • Fostering experiments with new video approaches and editorial strategies
  • Managing video journalists and editors in the newsroom and field

Requirements include:

  • 8+ years producing digital news videos
  • 4+ years experience managing video journalists
  • Broad and in depth experience in digital or broadcast news
  • Proven track record managing direct reports
  • Demonstrated deep command of a variety of video sources
  • Understanding of mainstream and emerging social channels
  • Understanding of Times standards of journalistic excellence and truthfulness
