Sotheby's is seeking a Director of Integrated Communications for a maternity cover position in London. The ideal candidate will be an experienced communications professional responsible for developing and executing 360 communications campaigns to engage clients and broaden the reach to new collectors. This role involves close collaboration with key figures within Sotheby's, including Chairmen and Heads of Departments, to promote specific artworks, enhance the company's profile, and ensure consistent public messaging.Responsibilities:
Work closely with Sotheby’s specialists and press office colleagues to devise and execute effective, creative campaigns.
Prepare written materials such as press releases, pitches, internal memos, and interview answers.
Maintain constant interaction with journalists, providing materials and hosting press events.
Analyze and interpret Sotheby’s auction results for media presentation.
Monitor coverage of Sotheby’s, competitors, and the broader cultural landscape.
Ensure regular internal communication within the press team and other departments.
Liaise with Marketing to support new initiatives with press coverage.
Support out-of-hours auctions and events.
Requirements:
7+ years of relevant professional experience.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and writing skills.
Newspaper, magazine, or PR agency experience.
Demonstrable experience in delivering impactful results for high-profile clients.
A keen interest in art history and the art market.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Strong creative skills.
Ability to devise and implement social media strategies.
Discretion and excellent judgment.
Proactive, enthusiastic, and a strong team player.
Good computer literacy.
