Senior Engineering Manager, Core Platform

Job Description

Verkada is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join their Core Platform team. This role involves building the platform and shared services to facilitate the rapid deployment of IoT devices and power Verkada's "operating system for buildings."Verkada is a leader in cloud-based B2B physical security, offering integrated product lines such as video security cameras, access control, environmental sensors, alarms, workplace solutions, and intercoms.Responsibilities:

• Lead projects impacting the Command product, involving both frontend and backend engineers.
• Actively write code and prototype new features.
• Inspire the team to create polished user experiences.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to build and ship features.
• Collaborate with other engineering leaders to define and execute goals and priorities.
• Drive the adoption of best practices and coding standards.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including hiring and performance management.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering roles.
• Experience with both backend and frontend development.
• Experience working in an agile software development environment.
• Eye for design and product details.
• Working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system.
• Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field.
