Job Description
Monzo is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Scientist to join their Operations Data team. This individual will be a technical authority in Machine Learning, shaping ML strategy and platforms within Monzo. The role involves working cross-functionally with senior leadership, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to define and execute the company's long-term ML strategy.
Role Involves:
- Defining and executing the strategic vision for ML across Operations.
- Defining reusable ML architectures and modelling standards.
- Collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Leadership teams.
- Advocating for and implementing responsible AI practices.
- Mentoring and coaching ML practitioners.
- Engaging with the broader ML community.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of leading large-scale ML initiatives.
- Experience developing state-of-the-art deep learning models, LLMs, and advanced AI architectures.
- Industry expertise in ML model development, deployment, and MLOps at scale.
- Deep comfort with Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Extensive experience with real-time ML applications, reinforcement learning, graph-based models, and/or NLP.
- Ability to communicate complex ML concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Thriving in ambiguous, fast-changing environments.
- Passion for mentoring and elevating the ML skill set across the organization.
