Job Description
PhonePe is seeking an Area Sales Manager to drive merchant acquisition and servicing within an assigned geographical area through a team of Business Development Executives. The role focuses on expanding PhonePe's presence in the offline space and increasing market share.
Responsibilities:
- Grow merchant network through acquisition and servicing.
- Drive quality in execution through audits and reviews.
- Meet merchants to present products and manage escalations.
- Monitor competition and share inputs with leadership.
- Ensure brand visibility in the assigned territory.
- Facilitate hiring and onboarding of BDEs/TLs.
- Monitor KPIs and coach team members.
- Drive execution rigor by being in the market and observing BDEs/TLs.
- Motivate the team by regularly communicating about monthly schemes and incentives.
Requirements:
- MBA from Tier 2/3 campus with good academic record.
- 2-4 years of experience in sales managing a sales team.
- Experience in Telecom, FMCG, or Retail is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong sales/customer service focus.
- Field sales experience with a proven track record of increasing sales and revenue.
- Exposure to the start-up environment is an added advantage.
- Problem-solving abilities with a strong bias for impact.
- Strong ethics and discretion while dealing with customers.
- Drive for results, able to demonstrate/quantify success relative to established targets and metrics.
