Lead Architect (Senior Director)

Job Description

Vonage is seeking a Lead Architect (Senior Director) to spearhead the architectural vision for its globally distributed embedded API architecture team. This role involves providing leadership, defining architectural strategies, and ensuring alignment with business goals. The Lead Architect will manage a team of architects, foster innovation, and act as a strategic advisor to engineering and product leadership.Vonage is a global cloud communications leader, helping brands like Airbnb, Viber, WhatsApp, and Snapchat accelerate their digital transformation.Responsibilities:

• Provide architectural leadership and align stakeholders.
• Build and lead the embedded architecture department.
• Mentor a high-performing team of architects.
• Define and communicate the architectural vision and strategy.
• Lead the technical architecture of the CPaaS platform.
• Design and oversee the implementation of a scalable cloud-based microservices platform on AWS.
• Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into architectural solutions.

Requirements:

• Proven experience standardising managed platforms across distributed systems.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Deep expertise in cloud-based microservice and real-time architectures on AWS.
• Proficiency with modern technologies: Kubernetes, Java, Go, Kotlin, Kafka.
• Solid grasp of SDLC, agile methodologies, and DevOps practices at scale.
• Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
