Job Description
Whatnot is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Buyer Growth team. This role focuses on driving top-of-funnel growth and first-time buyer success through acquisition, activation, and early retention initiatives. The Software Engineer will collaborate with product, data, design, and marketing teams to create experiences that attract new users and convert them into loyal customers.
What the role involves:
- Leading and scaling critical growth initiatives, including onboarding flows and referral systems.
- Designing and owning end-to-end systems impacting millions of users.
- Driving architectural decisions for reliable, scalable, and extensible systems.
- Collaborating with product, marketing, and data science to identify growth opportunities.
- Instrumenting, monitoring, and improving funnels to enhance user conversion and retention.
- Mentoring other engineers and contributing to engineering excellence.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of full-time software engineering experience in high-growth tech companies.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
- Proven track record of delivering end-to-end user-facing products and the ability to work across the stack (backend and frontend).
- Excellent product instincts focused on user needs.
- Ability to take ownership of ambiguous areas and drive impact.
- Ability to work flexibly across multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
