Senior Research Engineer / Scientist, AI Scientist Team

Job Description

Anthropic is seeking a Senior Research Engineer/Scientist to join their AI Scientist Team in San Francisco, CA. The team focuses on building an AI scientist capable of solving long-term reasoning challenges and pushing the scientific frontier. The ideal candidate will work end-to-end, identifying and addressing key blockers on the path to scientific AGI.Role involves:

• Identifying and removing bottlenecks preventing progress toward scientific AGI.
• Developing approaches to address long-horizon task completion and complex reasoning challenges.
• Scaling research ideas from prototype to production.
• Creating benchmarks and evaluation frameworks to measure model capabilities.
• Implementing distributed training systems and performance optimizations.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of ML research experience.
• Familiarity with large-scale language model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines.
• Expertise in performance optimization and distributed computing systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify technical bottlenecks.
• Ability to translate research concepts into scalable engineering solutions.
• Track record of shipping ML systems that tackle challenging multi-step reasoning problems.
