Job Description

Lightspeed is seeking a Senior iOS Developer to join their team in Montreal, Canada. The ideal candidate will help modernize and shape the future of Lightspeed's Retail Point-of-Sale (POS) applications, impacting millions of users. This role involves collaborating with a team focused on tackling engineering challenges, revitalizing legacy systems, and helping merchants worldwide.

What this role involves:

  • Owning and modernizing large parts of the mature iOS codebase.
  • Refactoring and evolving core systems using Swift, Objective-C, UIKit, and Core Data.
  • Reducing technical debt and introducing scalable architecture patterns.
  • Leading technical efforts in reducing the Objective-C footprint.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with engineers, product managers, and designers to build customer-facing features.
  • Contributing to code reviews and promoting best engineering practices.
  • Working on-site in Montreal when needed for access to specialized hardware.

Requirements:

  • Production experience with Swift and Objective-C.
  • Strong knowledge of UIKit, Core Data, Fastlane, and REST APIs.
  • Solid grasp of iOS SDK, object-oriented design, and refactoring techniques.
  • Comfortable working with legacy codebases and modernizing them.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and code review capabilities.
  • Able to work independently and move quickly while maintaining quality.
  • Experience collaborating across teams in an agile environment.
