Job Description
Quilt is seeking a Hardware Test Intern to contribute to their mission of moving humanity off fossil fuel heating. This role is based in Redwood City, CA, and involves helping to make Quilt's heat pumps the best they can be. The intern will work onsite for 10-16 weeks.
The Hardware Test Intern will interface across teams to capture testing requirements, design and build end-to-end test infrastructure, and design experiments to capture reliability edge cases. They will also push Quilt's heat pumps to their breaking point.
Responsibilities:
- Interface across teams to capture testing requirements
- Design and build out end-to-end test infrastructure including all hardware and software required
- Design of experiments to capture reliability edge cases
- Push our heat pumps to the breaking point
Qualifications:
- Junior, Senior, or Graduate student working towards an engineering degree
- Comfortable with Python
- Experience with the command line and writing Python scripts to interface with hardware
- Solid hardware prototyping skills
- Experience running/writing validation test plans
- Some experience designing, debugging, and validating embedded systems
- Some hands on experience with debugging tools (multimeter, oscilloscope)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Able to self-guide, identify problems and propose & implement solutions
- Passion for electrification and home automation
- Strong mission alignment around climate and decarbonization
