GitLab is seeking an Intermediate Software Engineer to join their Product Security Engineering team. In this role, the engineer will contribute to building security capabilities directly into GitLab's platform. The engineer will integrate security tooling into the product and develop new features that enable GitLab's Security teams, engineering teams, and customers to operate more securely.Responsibilities include:
  • Implementing security features and enhancements in GitLab's core product.
  • Integrating custom security tooling into GitLab's product.
  • Developing automation solutions to scale Product Security team processes.
  • Building self-service security tools for Engineering teams.
  • Participating in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical planning.
  • Collaborating with Product Security teams.
  • Writing clear documentation.
  • Participating in incident response.
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of software development experience with Ruby on Rails or similar web frameworks,
  • Understanding of web application development and API design,
  • Demonstrable experience with Git and modern development workflows,
  • Familiarity with automated testing and CI/CD practices,
  • Basic understanding of web application security concepts (such as OWASP Top-10 and similar),
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills,
  • Experience contributing to production applications.
