Research Scientist, Agents for Science

Ai2 is seeking a Research Scientist to join their Agents for Science team. This role is based in Seattle, WA, and requires on-site presence with occasional remote work.

The Research Scientist will be a key member of the team, driving the development of AI systems with deep reasoning capabilities, focusing on scientific reasoning.

Role Involves:

• Contributing to Ai2’s open source research environment.
• Building artifacts and implementing software systems with real-world impact.
• Authoring and presenting scientific technical reports, papers, and presentations.
• Collaborating with team members across Ai2.
• Mentoring early-career researchers and interns.
• Developing collaborative relationships with relevant organizations.

Requirements:

• A PhD in machine learning, reasoning, natural language processing, or a related area.
• Expertise in reinforcement learning, experimental methodology, language models, the science of deep learning, or efficient algorithms for deep learning.
• Ability to own and pursue a research agenda to improve AI model reasoning capabilities.
• Enthusiasm for collaboration and teamwork.
• Experience leading a team to solve analytical problems (a plus).
• Contributions to open-source research libraries (a plus).
