Job Description
Axon is seeking a Dedrone New Product Engineer to provide Quality Engineering support for Dedrone products. This role involves working with suppliers and contract manufacturers, in cooperation with Dedrone/Axon Design Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain. The NPI Engineer will evaluate and enhance the manufacturing readiness of new products, develop quality standards and procedures, and ensure proper manufacturing build instructions and test standards are in place.
Role involves:
- Leading Manufacturing Readiness Assessments (MRAs).
- Evaluating design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA) criteria.
- Identifying manufacturing bottlenecks and proposing mitigations.
- Defining production test plans, process flows, and station layout.
- Supporting prototype builds, pilot runs, and final production ramp.
- Collaborating with suppliers and contract manufacturers to validate tooling, fixtures, and production methods.
- Monitoring and analyzing key process capability metrics.
- Driving root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Influencing early design decisions with manufacturability insights.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 2–3 years in a New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing engineering, or process development role.
- Experience with consumer electronics, robotics, or high-tech hardware manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Ability to read and understand assembly drawings, schematics, block diagrams and Engineering Change Notices (ECR, ECO).
- Excellent problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Thorough Lean Manufacturing concepts and Root Cause Analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication in English.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in selected Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).
