Job Description
Rocket Lab is seeking a Development Engineer II to join their Neutron team in Auckland, New Zealand. This role focuses on the development of the Neutron rocket, involving structural, mechanical, fluid, and thermal systems. The Development Engineer II will collaborate with analysis and manufacturing engineers to create concepts, detailed designs, and drawing packages for metallic and composite components and assemblies. They will also perform development and qualification tests, refine designs, and ensure that Neutron's materials, components, and assemblies meet functional and performance requirements.What this role involves:
  • Producing conceptual designs in CAD for structures and mechanisms.
  • Supporting the testing of structures and mechanisms.
  • Developing test plans and documenting test data.
  • Creating test jigs and fixtures.
  • Identifying and solving technical challenges.
  • Preparing drawing packages and technical reports.
  • Producing design documentation.
  • Designing prototype parts.
Requirements:
  • Aerospace, mechanical, or mechatronic engineering degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience designing high-performance mechanical systems.
  • Experience with CAD software such as NX, Fibersim, Solidworks, or CATIA.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Sound analytical skills.
  • Tenacity and a can-do attitude.
