Job Description
GumGum is seeking an Account Director to drive revenue for its contextual advertising platform in Japan. This role involves prospecting and closing sales with large and mid-size agencies, reporting to the Managing Director, Japan. The Account Director will work autonomously, supported by a cross-functional pre-sales team, and will leverage their deep knowledge of the online media landscape to deliver solutions for clients.

What this role involves:
  • Driving revenue and new business in Japan.
  • Identifying and qualifying opportunities from marketing-driven leads.
  • Generating sales activity through cold calling, presentations, and RFPs.
  • Upselling current clients with existing and new products.
  • Cultivating relationships with brands, agencies, and clients.
  • Translating client insights to the internal product team.
  • Collaborating with the Account Manager and other internal teams.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Media or Marketing/Advertising field preferred.
  • 5+ years in digital advertising sales.
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong relationships with ad agencies in Japan, including global holding companies.
  • Native-level written and verbal communication skills in Japanese.
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English a plus, but not required.
