Job Description
Rocket Lab is seeking a skilled and experienced GNC Engineer to work on the control and guidance algorithms of Neutron, their new, medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle. The GNC Engineer will define and implement innovative algorithms that ensure Neutron deploys payloads to the targeted orbit and that the first stage reaches its landing site safely and reliably. The engineer will validate algorithms with thorough analysis, including HITL testing and Monte Carlo simulations.Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems, building rockets and satellites that enable ambitious space missions. This role is based in Auckland, New Zealand. What this role involves:
  • Defining and implementing innovative algorithms for Neutron's control and guidance systems.
  • Ensuring accurate payload deployment and safe first stage landing.
  • Validating algorithms through analysis, HITL testing, and Monte Carlo simulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with dynamics and modeling of launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, or robotics.
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics and/or closed-loop control systems.
