Job Description
Pure Storage is seeking a SSD Qualification Engineer to join their FlashArray team. This role involves being actively engaged in all phases of the product development cycle with a focus on demonstrating capabilities of PURE’s internally designed SSDs. The engineer will manage drive qualification, execute tests, drive issue analysis, and guide expectations based on testing results. They will also develop summaries of expectations, present results, drive issues to resolution, and improve qualification processes. The ideal candidate will proactively define and develop new SSD qualification tests, automate tests using scripting skills, and participate in team activities to develop testing processes.

Role involves:
  • Managing drive qualification, including executing tests and driving analysis of issues.
  • Organizing testing plans and developing summaries of expectations.
  • Driving issues to resolution through failure analysis and collaboration with experts.
  • Improving qualification processes and brainstorming methods to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Developing and automating new SSD qualification tests using scripting skills.
  • Participating in team activities aimed at developing testing processes.

Requirements:
  • 5+ years in SSD/HDD design, development, and qualification (8+ preferred).
  • B.S. Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (M.S. preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of Flash technologies/roadmaps, SSD controllers, and drive FW.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware design, storage architectures, and storage interfaces.
  • Experience with failure modes of flash-based devices.
  • Strong ability to devise, implement, automate, and refine qualification methods using scripting skills.
  • Ability to qualify drives across a wide spectrum, from electrical to protocol to functional levels.
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, technical development environment.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, process-savvy, and customer-focused.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
