Manager, Software Engineering (L4)

Job Description

Twilio is seeking an Engineering Manager to join their Flex product team. This role involves managing the Flex Billing & Backend team of software engineers, focusing on expanding the feature set and overall solution reach of Flex, Twilio’s contact center platform.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for delivering experiences for Twilio customers, championing the team's success, and ensuring the development and operation of scalable distributed systems in cloud environments. The role also involves advocating for agile processes, continuous integration, and test automation.

Responsibilities:

• Own and deliver experiences for Twilio customers
• Champion the team, setting individuals up for success
• Understand the architecture and processes required to build and operate scalable systems
• Advocate agile processes, continuous integration, and test automation
• Be a strategic problem solver
• Exhibit strong communication skills

Requirements:

• 10+ years experience with 5 years of leading software teams
• Experience managing multiple workstreams within the team
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Experience with REST APIs, Java/GoLang, MySQL, Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience with modern automated testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with SaaS Telemetry and Observability tools such as Datadog, Graphana, Prometheus
• Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Familiarity with agile processes and automation
