Job Description

IONOS is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join their team in Berlin. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with various teams within the leading European provider of cloud infrastructure, cloud services, and hosting services. IONOS offers a dynamic and future-proof work environment with open structures, a casual culture, and flat hierarchies.

The Site Reliability Engineering department operates all IONOS Cloud IaaS and PaaS Services. The team consists of highly skilled and experienced engineers focused on solving complex problems.

Role Involves:

  • Monitoring system performance (uptime, latency, error rates) and providing 24/7 troubleshooting, aiming to resolve 85% of issues on the first attempt.
  • Planning and executing seamless software/hardware implementations across multiple data centers.
  • Conducting regular disaster recovery exercises and improving runbooks, alerts, and monitoring thresholds.
  • Researching, evaluating, and recommending solutions to improve reliability, availability, performance, and security.
  • Automating repetitive tasks to improve efficiency.
  • Providing Level 2 support and direct customer contact.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Linux system administration with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with virtualized environments, including Qemu/KVM, OpenStack, Proxmox, and Kubernetes (K8s).
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as SaltStack or Ansible, and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana.
  • Experience with code management, including merge conflicts, feature branches, merge requests, and continuous integration (CI/CD).
  • B2+ level in both English and German.
