Sr. Payroll Analyst

Job Description

Smartsheet, a company dedicated to helping teams achieve their goals through seamless work management and smart solutions, is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst. This role is pivotal in supporting payroll operations, primarily for the U.S. workforce, with opportunities for global collaboration. The Senior Payroll Analyst will report to the Payroll Manager and can be performed remotely, with a preference for candidates in the Pacific or Mountain time zones.

The role involves:

• Processing, reconciling, and validating payroll for 2,200+ U.S. employees.
• Partnering with third-party vendors to ensure timely and accurate execution.
• Managing U.S. payroll tax compliance, including registration and maintenance for all jurisdictions.
• Leading year-end payroll processes and supporting U.S.-based external audits.
• Championing improvements to payroll systems, with a focus on U.S. payroll configurations.
• Serving as the primary contact for U.S. payroll inquiries.
• Collaborating with internal partners on funding, updates, and documentation.

Requirements include:

• 5+ years of experience processing multi-state U.S. payroll and supporting international payrolls.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
• Hands-on experience with payroll systems, with Workday and CloudPay strongly preferred.
• In-depth understanding of stock-based compensation and related tax implications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel/Google Sheets).
