Job Description

FREE NOW is seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join their Driver Experience In Trip Team in Athens. The successful candidate will be part of a highly-skilled cross-functional team, contributing to the future of mobility by assisting drivers in their daily work. The role involves designing and delivering impactful solutions to simplify and elevate the journey of FREE NOW drivers, ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.

The role involves:

  • Owning features and code, from ideation to deployment and monitoring.
  • Designing and developing systems based on product requirements or refactoring.
  • Maintaining and improving existing systems by addressing bottlenecks and performance issues.
  • Collaborating with team members in an Agile environment.
  • Staying updated on the latest technology trends and bringing best practices.

Requirements:

  • Passionate about Java or Kotlin.
  • Experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks, automated tests, and CI/CD tools.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, Datadog, Kibana etc.).
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture.
  • Keen on principles of scalable web applications (RESTful APIs, transactions, resiliency).
  • Familiar with messaging using RabbitMQ or Kafka.
  • High level of creativity and excellent communication skills in English.
