Technical Project Manager (Engineering Operations)

Job Description

Smartly is seeking a Technical Project Manager (Engineering Operations) to drive operational excellence within its Product Development organization. This role involves partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering leadership to enhance efficiency, accountability, and continuous improvement across the delivery lifecycle. The Technical Project Manager will oversee tools, rituals, and metrics, ensuring visibility, governance, and agility across Smartly's 25+ development teams.This role involves:

• Jira Administration & Workflow Optimization

Smartly is looking for someone who has:

• 5+ years of experience in engineering operations, software delivery management, or technical program management.
• Deep Jira expertise, including configuration, project hierarchy, automation, and reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Lean).
• Proficiency with engineering metrics: DORA, SPACE, story points, lead time, and velocity.
• Demonstrated experience in managing small to medium-sized cross-team projects.
• Familiarity with tools like Swarmia, GitHub, Redash, Confluence, and similar platforms.
• Proven track record of influencing without authority and driving adoption of best practices across engineering teams.
• Ability to distill complex operational insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work in the Helsinki Smartly office for 3 days a week (hybrid structure)
