Staff Backend Engineer - Grafana IRM (Remote, EMEA)

Job Description

Grafana Labs is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join the Grafana IRM squad. This role is remote and based in the EMEA time zone. The Grafana IRM squad is responsible for business-critical services that assist Grafana and other organizations in responding to incidents. The team's mission is to simplify the detection, response, and learning from incidents with minimal effort. The team values a unified experience, automation, integration, and observability.

The Staff Backend Engineer will play an active role in influencing the roadmap and career objectives, work with the team to deliver new features, drive projects from ideation to operations, contribute to open-source projects, design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, participate in on-call rotations, mentor team members, and learn new skills.

What will this role involve?

• Take an active role in influencing our roadmap and your own career objectives.
• Work with your team to deliver new features, then use the results to iterate and improve.
• Drive projects from initial ideation all the way to operations once it is in the hands of customers.
• Embrace our open-source culture and contribute to other projects that may not directly fall within your team’s scope.
• Design, build, operate, and maintain critical systems, owning the reliability, performance, and availability.
• Be a part of your team’s on-call rotations and take ownership of the services you’re running.
• Mentor and support other team members, participate in design discussions and collaborate with the team.
• Learn new skills by gaining a deeper understanding of our cloud product and our customers and getting to know the codebase of a large distributed system.

Requirements:

• Solid experience with at least one programming language (Go and Python preferred).
• Experience delivering projects from gathering requirements to shipping a product.
• Experience developing software that runs in the Cloud or systems engineering experience.
• Experience writing clean, robust, and performant software.
