Job Description
Appian is seeking a Lead Accessibility Engineer to drive the company's commitment to an accessible low-code software development platform. This role is based in McLean, Virginia, and requires in-office presence five days a week to foster collaboration.

Responsibilities:
  • Build strong relationships with customers to understand their accessibility needs.
  • Develop and implement accessibility processes and guidelines for product development.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on accessibility to cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of the platform's VPAT.
  • Promote accessibility awareness within the organization.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, HCI, Web Design, or related field.
  • Experience in accessibility engineering with a strong understanding of WCAG, Section 508, ADA, and other standards.
  • Practical experience with accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies.
  • Knowledge of no-code or low-code development platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience with automated accessibility testing tools and frameworks.
  • Certifications in accessibility.
