Job Description
Appian is seeking a Lead Accessibility Engineer to drive the company's commitment to an accessible low-code software development platform. This role is based in McLean, Virginia, and requires in-office presence five days a week to foster collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Build strong relationships with customers to understand their accessibility needs.
- Develop and implement accessibility processes and guidelines for product development.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on accessibility to cross-functional teams.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of the platform's VPAT.
- Promote accessibility awareness within the organization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, HCI, Web Design, or related field.
- Experience in accessibility engineering with a strong understanding of WCAG, Section 508, ADA, and other standards.
- Practical experience with accessibility testing tools and assistive technologies.
- Knowledge of no-code or low-code development platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Experience with automated accessibility testing tools and frameworks.
- Certifications in accessibility.
