Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior - Machining

Job Description

Rocket Lab is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior - Machining to contribute to the machining development of new products and product revisions related to the Rutherford and Archimedes engines. This role is based at Rocket Lab's Headquarters in Long Beach, CA. The Manufacturing Engineer will contribute to design reviews, select and install machine shop equipment, develop machining capability in-house, design and implement tooling, and lead continuous improvement projects. They will also collaborate with other Rocket Lab machine shops and mentor less experienced engineers and machinists.What this role involves:

• Contributing to design reviews.
• Selecting, procuring, and installing machine shop equipment.
• Developing machining capability in-house.
• Designing and implementing tooling and equipment.
• Leading continuous improvement and cost reduction projects.
• Collaborating with other Rocket Lab machine shops.
• Developing and mentoring less experienced engineers and machinists.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
• For Manufacturing Engineer II: 2+ years of machine shop experience.
• For Senior Manufacturing Engineer: 5+ years of machine shop experience.
• Ability to rapidly iterate NX CAM programs and operate 5-axis CNC equipment.
• Well versed in GD&T and inspection methods.
