Backend and Systems Engineer, Flows

Job Description

Postman is seeking a Backend and Systems Engineer to join their team and help scale and maintain the Flows runtime system. This system is critical for running automations in the cloud, focusing on low latency, high throughput, and high availability. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in developing, deploying, and operating backend services and infrastructure in a Kubernetes-based cloud environment. Postman is looking for an experienced engineer who is excited about hands-on building and can serve as a role model and mentor to other engineers. This role involves making key technical decisions and improvements to the system, as well as effectively making impact through influence within and across teams.What this role involves:

• Developing high-quality, responsive APIs using modern backend technologies.
• Ensuring APIs are secure and optimized for speed, scalability, and availability.
• Maintaining operational excellence through test-driven development and strong test coverage.
• Collaborating with frontend engineers, designers, and product managers.
• Continuously benchmarking, refactoring, and optimizing code for high performance.
• Designing, building, and managing scalable, secure software and infrastructure in a Kubernetes environment.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience shipping production-level software.
• Proven track record of delivering impactful projects independently and as part of a team.
• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure APIs (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• A deep commitment to test-driven development, operational excellence, and robust software practices.
