Director, Logistics Engineering

Whatnot is seeking a Director of Logistics Engineering to lead the technical strategy for their Logistics team. This role involves building scalable systems and services to power logistics across the platform, working closely with product, design, and internal stakeholders. The Director will lead a growing engineering team, shaping the fulfillment and delivery experience for sellers and buyers.

What this role involves:

• Owning the long-term platform and product strategy for Logistics engineering.
• Guiding architectural decisions and technical foundations for global logistics systems.
• Driving cross-functional collaboration with various teams.
• Developing foundational infrastructure for a broad range of fulfillment options.
• Building internal logistics services that operate like an internal SaaS platform.
• Leading initiatives to reduce time-to-integration for new shipping carriers.
• Providing accurate, robust reporting infrastructure for business teams.
• Staying hands-on in system design and technical decision-making.
• Fostering a culture of high technical rigor and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Ability to drive technical strategy and mentor engineers.
• Experience leading platform teams that provide foundational APIs and services.
• Strong product sense and customer empathy.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and execute against long-term roadmaps.
• Excellent communication and influence skills.
• Eagerness to grow and scale a team.
• Experience with build-vs-buy decisions.
• Must be within commuting distance of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, or New York City hub.
