Junior Backend Engineer - Zephyr

Job Description

SmartBear is seeking a Junior Backend Engineer to join their team in Wrocław, Poland, to work on the Zephyr product, which provides test management capabilities to Atlassian products. The Junior Backend Engineer will be responsible for improving the product and adding capabilities for thousands of users. The role involves working with a team of engineers and product managers to tackle challenges such as improving component reuse, handling parallelism and large amounts of data, and working with Terraform and a fully automated pipeline for continuous integration and deployment.

The candidate will work with various technologies and languages, including Java, Spring, JavaScript/Typescript/React, Terraform, Docker, and AWS. They will collaborate within a high-performance team of developers, testers, and support engineers spread across multiple locations.

Responsibilities include:

• Implementing new functionality in close cooperation with the team and users.
• Engaging in peer programming and peer design.
• Maintaining test coverage.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Interest in software testing using different approaches or tools such as BDD, TDD, unit testing, integration testing and performance testing.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and writing maintainable code.
• Knowledge of design patterns and best practices.
• English on at least B2 level.
• 1+ years of Java development experience.
• Experience in modern version control systems such as Git.
