Job Description
Solaris, a tech company with a full German banking license, is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Accounts product area. This role involves shaping the future of digital banking by leading a core product engineering team. The Staff Engineer will work at the intersection of product and engineering, owning the design, delivery, and operation of complex, high-scale financial services. They will collaborate with Product Management, Engineering Leadership, and fellow engineers to build secure, resilient, and reliable banking solutions.
Role Involves:
- Leading a cross-functional engineering team building cloud-native services for banking products
- Designing and delivering scalable and secure backend systems, from architecture to production
- Driving engineering excellence through code quality, system reliability, observability, and performance
- Collaborating with product and engineering peers to align technical decisions with business outcomes
- Owning systems end-to-end: “You build it, you run it” from design to deployment to operations
- Guiding architectural decisions and long-term technical strategy across your domain
- Mentoring engineers and shape team practices that raise the bar
Requirements:
- Proven experience in Go (preferred) and/or Ruby
- Deep experience building and operating cloud-native applications on GCP, AWS, or Azure
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Solid understanding of security best practices for backend and cloud-based services
- Demonstrated ownership of complex systems with a mindset for operational excellence
- Experience leading technical projects or teams (Tech Lead, Team Lead, or similar)
- Ability to drive cross-functional initiatives, balancing technical and product priorities
- A thoughtful communicator and problem-solver, able to align engineering efforts with business goals
