Senior Backend Engineer, Notifications Foundation

Job Description

Reddit is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Notifications Foundation team. This role is within the growth organization and focuses on building and scaling the notification infrastructure that delivers over half a billion push notifications and emails daily. The engineer will design and build capabilities within the notifications system, creating a scalable platform for Reddit Engineering. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Machine Learning, and Data Science, to innovate new ideas and enhance user experience.Responsibilities:

• Design and build capabilities within the notifications system.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Expertise in services and database systems that scale to millions of users or 100k req/s.
• Experience with diagnosing and optimizing backend performance.
• Distributed system and cloud infrastructure experience.
• Experience with testing culture, unit testing, load testing framework, or automated testing.
• Skills in written/verbal communication, project leadership, mentorship, negotiating conflict, or engineering culture improvements.
